Zetaly pricing: a simple subscription based on your infrastructure

Zetaly software is sold as a subscription. Prices are based on the number of logical partitions (LPARs) or servers in your environment, not on your MSU (million service unit) consumption, so your costs stay fixed and predictable. You can pay monthly or annually (upfront with a 10% discount), and adjust the number of units whenever your needs change.

Unlike traditional mainframe pricing models based on MSU consumption, Zetaly pricing is tied to your existing infrastructure, not your capacity. It is predictable and easy to budget.

Volume discounts and payment terms
Volume discounts apply as the number of LPARs covered grows: the more partitions your subscription covers, the lower the price per unit. Subscriptions are billed monthly, or annually (payment upfront with a 10% discount). The standard Zetaly subscription runs for a minimum of 12 months. Want to try before you commit? A Proof of Concept (POC) or Proof of Value (POV) lets you test our solutions first.
On-premise or SaaS: choose your deployment model
Zetaly Automated Capacity (ZAC) is installed on-premise, since it operates directly on your mainframe infrastructure. The Zetaly Data Platform (ZDP) and Zetaly Service Intelligence (ZSI) can be deployed on-premise in your own environment, so your mainframe data never leaves your infrastructure, or as a SaaS platform hosted and managed by Zetaly. With the SaaS option, Zetaly handles hosting, maintenance, and availability, and deployment requires no infrastructure project on your side. The subscription works the same way in both models; the platform base price differs. Contact us to compare the two options for your environment.
Why subscription pricing
Since our creation in 2006, we have adapted our offer to how mainframe teams buy and budget. The subscription model is now the standard for all new Zetaly contracts.
Expenses spread over time
A subscription is an operating expense. You spread costs over the duration of the contract instead of paying a large sum upfront, and free up budget for other projects.
Flexibility and adaptability
Pricing based on LPARs rather than MSU lets you match the subscription to your real scope. You avoid paying for capacity you do not use.
Cost transparency and predictability
Your costs are fixed for the subscription period. Because pricing is based on the number of LPARs or servers, you know exactly how much you will pay, whatever your MSU consumption does.
Scalability and growth
Increase or decrease the number of units as your environment evolves. Volume discounts reduce the unit price as your coverage grows.
Frequently Asked Questions
How is Zetaly priced?
Zetaly software is sold as a subscription. Zetaly Automated Capacity (ZAC) is priced per LPAR (logical partition); the other solutions are priced per server, with the ZDP z/OS data collection agent priced per LPAR. Volume discounts apply as the number of LPARs covered grows.
Does Zetaly offer an MSU-based subscription for ZAC?
Yes. Zetaly Automated Capacity (ZAC) is priced per LPAR by default. Still, you can also subscribe on an MSU (million service unit) basis — installed (Full Capacity) or consumed (Sub-Capacity) — depending on your environment. Contact your sales representative to find the option best suited to your mainframe.
What is the billing frequency?
Subscriptions are billed monthly, or annually (payment upfront with a 10% discount). In both cases, your costs are fixed and predictable for the duration of the subscription.
What happens if I increase my MSU capacity?
Nothing changes on your Zetaly invoice. Zetaly pricing is based on the number of servers or LPARs in your environment, not on MSU capacity or consumption. You can upgrade your mainframe without impacting your subscription cost. The exception is Zetaly Automated Capacity (ZAC) if you chose to subscribe it on an MSU basis (Full Capacity or Sub-Capacity) rather than per LPAR: in that case, an MSU capacity increase does affect your subscription cost. Contact your sales representative if you are unsure which basis your ZAC subscription is priced on.
What happens if I need to increase the number of units (LPARs or servers)?
You can add LPARs or servers at any time to match your needs. The subscription adjusts to the new scope at a controlled cost, and volume discounts may reduce the per-unit price as your coverage grows.
Does Zetaly still offer perpetual licenses?
No. Zetaly moved to a subscription-only model for new contracts. Past perpetual licenses remain valid and supported, and existing customers can transition to a subscription at any time.
I’m already a Zetaly customer. Can I move from a perpetual license to a subscription?
Yes. Moving to a subscription replaces the capacity-based upgrade charges of a perpetual license with a fixed price per LPAR or server, so mainframe capacity upgrades no longer trigger additional license costs. Contact your sales representative to prepare the transition.
Is Zetaly available as SaaS?
Yes. The Zetaly Data Platform (ZDP) and Zetaly Service Intelligence (ZSI) are available as a SaaS platform hosted and managed by Zetaly, or installed on-premise in your own environment. Zetaly Automated Capacity (ZAC) is always installed on-premise, since it operates directly on your mainframe.
Is there a minimum commitment?
The standard Zetaly subscription runs for a minimum of 12 months, with monthly or annual payment.
Can I try Zetaly before subscribing?
Yes. Zetaly offers a Proof of Concept (POC) and a Proof of Value (POV) so you can test and validate our solutions before committing to a subscription. See our Proof of Concept and Proof of Value pages for details.
